William R. Vaughters Obituary Late in the morning of October 4, doing what he loved, hiking with his dog, Baxter, in the redwood forest on the Waters Creek Trail, Bill Vaughters had a heart attack and died, beginning his ascent with the Lord up the most beautiful mountain he's ever seen. Born July 20, 1936 in Portland, Oregon, Bill spent his life in Christian service, offering counseling to many; falling in love, raising a family and building a farm in Wilderville with his wife of 46 years, Joan. He was a playful grandpa to Grayson, Robert and Alana and a dedicated dad to Kari and Scott. Bill was a creative wood-artist, an avid cycler, hiker, and traveler and was always interested in inventing and playing games. Bill is also survived by his brother, Ted Vaughters and was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Chinook.
