William Frederick Lewis Jr.

William F. Lewis Jr., 72 of Grants Pass passed away December 31, 2014 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015, 4:00 PM at Redwood Country Church, 1640 Redwood Ave., Grants Pass, OR 97527. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Luekemia & Lymphoma Society, 9320 SW Barbur Blvd., Ste. 350, Portland, OR 97219 William was born on October 14, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and was adopted in his infancy by William and Willa Lewis. He spent most of his childhood in Upland, California where he graduated from Upland High School in 1960. In 1961 he moved to Grants Pass. He married in 1966, but later divorced in 1985. He was employed with Boise Cascade Plywood Mill for 37 years and retired in 2004. He attended Redwood Country Church for many years where he was head usher and helped with maintenance. William provided transportation for senior's to church and other appointments. He was also a part of a men's Bible study and attended a singles group with River Valley Community Church. He enjoyed classic cars, model planes and playing basketball and baseball with the Relic's. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Redhead of Grants Pass, Oregon; son, Jonathan Lewis of Medford, Oregon; half sisters, Lydia Harootunian of Chicago, Illinois and Nancy Kiesling of Chicago, Illinois; half brothers, Rev. David Kiesling of Hammond, Indiana and Kenneth Kiesling of Chicago, Illinois and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eudora Dees and half brother, William Kiesling.
