William Dean "Bill" Carey Sr.

William "Bill" Carey Sr., 68, of Selma passed away March 19, 2011 at Fair View Transitional Health Center in Grants Pass. Private family services will be held at later date. He was born on July 10, 1942 in Picher, Oklahoma to Oscar and Thelma Carey. Bill served in the United States Navy for almost 15 years and then Civil Service for 19 more years. Bill married Pamela Joyce Whitehead on December 18, 1976 in El Cajon, California. Together they moved to Selma, Oregon in 1997 from Oceanside, CA. He was a member of the American Legion, Cave Junction VFW and Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading talking with people and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife Joyce survivors include son William Carey Jr. of Sutherlin, Oregon; two daughters, Tanya Carey of Corvallis, OR and Dena Djahed of Grants Pass; two granddaughters Katrina Grove of Grants Pass and Destiney Williams of Grants Pass. His parents and three sisters preceded him in death.
