Wanda June Delgado, 64, of Grants Pass died at home on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 after a valiant battle with cancer. A celebration of life service will be held at Newman United Methodist Church, 132 NE B Street, Grants Pass, Saturday Dec. 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Wanda was born Dec. 5, 1941 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Sonya and John Woods. Her family later moved to Kerman, CA where she was raised. She graduated from Edison High School in Stockton, CA in June, 1959. July 18, 1959, she married Samuel Delgado, who survives. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and extraordinary homemaker. She retired as executive secretary for the City of Modesto in 1994 and moved to Southern Oregon. She enjoyed traveling, cruises, camping, reading, surfing the internet, bargain hunting, watching Jeopardy!, playing board games and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. In addition to her husband, survivors include her son David Delgado of Villa Park, CA; mother and stepfather Sonya and Floyd Smashey; three sisters, Sandra Woods Peck and Leonda Ferris, both of Grants Pass and Louise McDonald of Poteau, OK; brother Michael Woods of Stockton, CA; six grandchildren, Jenna Delgado, Sam Delgado, Lauren Delgado, Eva Lagorio, Sonya Lagorio and Emma Lagorio; numerous nieces and nephews. Loved ones passing before her include her daughter Rachelle Delgado Lagorio, brothers John Woods and Gerald Woods, and father John Woods. Wanda wished to express her love and thanks for the care and support she received from her family, friends, Dr. Karchmer, Lorraine Washburn, Dr. Countiss, and the many caregivers she met during her courageous six-year fight to live.
