On the early morning of Sunday, May 3, 2015, Valerie Anne Van Ess, of Rogue River, died at the age of 66 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 1, 1948 and was the first born child of Elton and Lois Cranmer of Pemberton, New Jersey. On July 6, 1973, she married John Van Ess, her husband of 42 years. In the mid 1970's, they moved across country and settled in the town of Rogue Rogue to raise their two children. A devoted wife and dedicated mother, she enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Other interests included gardening and curling up to her favorite book. Child Evangelism Fellowship, (CEF), was an organization that was very dear to her heart, and one that she volunteered as a teacher for many years. Valerie is survived by her spouse, John Van Ess of Rogue River, and her children, Erica-Lynn (Rici) and Louis Caselli of New Jersey, and John and Dawn Van Ess of Grants Pass. She was blessed with eight beautiful Grandchildren. Chace Van Ess, Drew Van Ess, Louie Caselli, Jr., Mackenzie Van Ess, Rocky Caselli, Gianna-Rose Caselli, Isabella Van Ess, and Addison Van Ess. She was the oldest of seven children and is survived by Gregory Cranmer, Jimmy Cranmer, Karen Cranmer, Darlene Welch, Kimberly Collins, and Shari Gardner, all residents of New Jersey. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015, 6:30pm at the Rogue Valley Community Church. An informal reception will follow.
