Attilio Thomas âTomâ?Ruatta, 87, of Grants Pass died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Laurel Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service will be held May 8 at 1 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Country Chapel in North Hollywood, Calif. Interment will follow at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood. He was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Russelton, Pa., to Joseph and Anna Ruatta. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marine. For many years, he worked as a bakery truck driver for Foix Bakery in Southern California. In 2006, he moved to Grants Pass from Southern California. For 34 years, he was a member of the Elks Lodge. He also was past president of the Association Piemontesi nel Mondo and the Garibaldina Mb Society. He enjoyed traveling, cooking,?bocce and bingo. Survivors include two sons, Thomas H. and Richard J. Ruatta, both of Grants Pass; a brother, Aldo Ruatta of Burbank, Calif.; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
