Thomas F. Conroy passed, peacefully, at home, on 28 April 2021.
Tom was born to Harold Edmund and Gladys Mae Conroy (Hurlburt) in Hartford, CT. He attended Bulkeley High School and went on to join the US Army where he enjoyed an overseas tour and launched his future career in the Aerospace and Communication IT Industry.
Tom and Mary J. Basford married at the Guasti Winery on 26 Dec,1980 in Guasti, CA.
Tom and Mary lived, loved, worked, and traveled all over Europe, Turkey, and the UK, generously hosting family and friends, from 1980 until his retirement in 2004. Tom was known by all for his keen intelligence, piercing blue eyes, his ready wit, and his sense of humor.
Enjoying Retirement, Tom was immersed in projects and plantings with his wife on their property in Oregon. He loved motorcycles, baseball, and Formula 1 racing. In his younger days he enjoyed playing softball, Germany and stateside. He was an ace pitcher with a whip-fast underhand and played a mean 3rd base. He was a member of the Northern California Irish Wolfhound Club. Single malt whiskies and Irish Wolfhounds were his hearts pass time. Tom was an avid reader and enjoyed a diverse taste in music, instilling the love of both in his children.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Conroy, his eldest son and namesake Thomas Francis Conroy III and his wife Deanne Conroy, also his daughters; Traci Ann Conroy and husband Rodney Post, Terri Marie Conroy, Lynn Michelle Conroy and finance Michael Grant, youngest son Quinn Thomas Conroy, step daughter, Joy Lescher and her husband Todd, and his cousins Billy (William) and Jeff Conroy.
Grandpa Conroy will be missed by 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Tom was a dear friend and mentor to many throughout his life. He was deeply loved, well respected, and will be sorely missed.
Tom is preceded in death by his mother and father, Harold and Gladys Conroy, and his brothers Michael and William Conroy, and by his grandson, Michael E. Conroy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Irish Wolfhound Foundation.
