Theron Arden "Terry" Middleton, 70, of Grants Pass died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Providence Medford Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jim Boston officiating. Contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 N. Halsted St., Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60622; or to a charity of the donor's choice. He was born July 22, 1938, in Grants Pass to Dorothy Jones Middleton and Alfred "Duke" Middleton. He was raised in Grants Pass, where he attended Jerome Prairie Elementary School for the first through eighth grades and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1956. After high school, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan, Biloxi, Miss., and Castle Air Force Base in Merced, Calif. After leaving the Air Force, he attended Weaver Airline School. In 1962, he went to work for Pacific Airlines, which later became Northwest Airlines. In 1963, he married Barbara Luchte. They had three sons before divorcing in 1972. Later that year, in Grants Pass, he married Jean Mattis, who survives. On Dec. 31, 1993, he retired from Northwest Airlines. He began working for Wal-Mart in Medford in 1994 and later transferred to the Grants Pass store. He retired from Wal-Mart in April 2004. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was baptized at Jerome Prairie Bible Church and he was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry and was a junior warden. He enjoyed snow skiing, golfing and traveling. He especially enjoyed wood carving and was a member of the Rogue Valley Woodcarvers. In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Richard Middleton of Sebastopol, Calif., Douglas Middleton of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Scott Middleton of Merced, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Christine Bowen of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, David Middleton of Eugene; and four grandchildren.
