Shirley Marie Corrie, 68, of Grants Pass died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. A remembrance service will be held Saturday. For more information, call 474-0747. The third of four children, she was born April 26, 1941, in Kingsburg, Calif., to Oliver C. and Luella (Vincent) Berger. When she was young, she enjoyed working in the family pharmacy. Her family moved to Palo Alto, Calif., when she was 10 years old. She lived, worked and raised her four children in Palo Alto until 1978, when she moved to the Rogue Valley. Upon moving to the Rogue Valley, she opened a restaurant. After a few years, she decided she wanted to further her education and be home with her children. She attended Rogue Community College and earned several degrees and certifications in forestry and recreation resource management. While attending college full-time, she also drove a school bus. After graduating, she became involved in Girl Scouts and was named "Leader of the Year." She enjoyed attending local events, including the Growers' Market, powwows, psychic fairs, barter fairs and First Friday Art Night. She also enjoyed gardening, camping, socializing and playing cribbage. Survivors include two sons, Jerry and Lance; a daughter, Alea, and a grandson. A son, Brian, died in 1969.
