Shelly Long

Michele Lynn "Shelly" Long, 54, of Grants Pass died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Providence Medford Medical Center. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Stephens Family Chapel, with Ken Bern, pastor, officiating. Long was born Nov. 26, 1953, in Terre Haute, Ind. She attended school in Modesto, Calif., and graduated from Thomas Downey High School. On July 21, 1972, in Modesto, she married Walter Keith Long, who survives. For 10 years, she worked as a teacher's aide in Modesto. In July 1979, she and her husband moved to Grants Pass from Modesto. She enjoyed flower decorating and designing custom artificial floral hats. She also enjoyed traveling to the coast and spending time at the beach. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Tawnya Long of San Francisco; her mother, Betty Johnson of Modesto, Calif.; a brother, Mark Johnson of Corning, Calif.; and a grandson.
