Sara Slutsky

Sara Slutsky was born January 20, 1927 in New York City to Harry & Molly Wakshull, and was the youngest of their seven children. She died of lung cancer at the age of 96 on October 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was married to the love of her life, Seymour (Sy) Slutsky, for 61 years until Sy’s death in 2009.

Sara was a Registered Nurse, graduating from nursing school in Amsterdam, New York in 1947. She was the consummate RN, working until her retirement in 1997.

Sara is survived by her three children, Jonathan Slutsky (Susan Moore), Susan Beene, & Ellen McClure (Lee); her four grandchildren, Dylan McClure (Krista), Luke Beene (Brianna), Raisa Slutsky-Moore (Parker Snyder), & Sydney Beene; her sister Lillian Siegel; and her many nieces & nephews.

She was our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, & friend and is already terribly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
