Sandra Genine Pyle

December 2, 1939 — November 27, 2016

Sandra Ganiene Pyle: December 2, 1939-November 27, 2016 Our much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Sandra Pyle, died peacefully in her home to join her Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 27. Sandra was a proud breast cancer survivor, but she lost her recent 6-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Sandra enjoyed a full, eventful life, and she loved living most of her life in her favorite town in the world, Rogue River, Oregon. She was born in Prineville, Oregon to Don and Ola Gregory in 1939. When Sandra was very young, her parents owned a Donut Shop and a Barber Shop. Don was an accomplished sawyer in Doris, California for most of his career. Sandra had one sister, Donna, who was 11 years older than she. The Gregory family moved from Oregon to Alturas, California in 1944, where Sandra attended kindergarten and elementary school. Her first-grade teacher was amazingly accurate when she commented on Sandra's report card that Sandra was "always very lady-like with gentle manners." Sandra was very lady-like throughout her life-- always the beautiful, well-mannered lady. The Gregory family moved back to Rogue River when Sandra was 12 years old, and Sandra has lived on the same property on Pine Street in Rogue River from age 12 to 77! Sandra attended Rogue River School District schools from grades 6-12, and graduated from Rogue River High School in 1958 where she was yearbook editor, an avid archery team member, and held many club leadership positions. After high school, Sandra married her 7th-12th grade boyfriend, Larry Elledge, in 1958. Sandra and Larry had two daughters: Julie Dee, born in 1959, and Linda Dawn, born in 1962. Sandra's parents were very generous to Sandra and her family, gifting the Rogue River property on Pine Street to Sandra in 1961. Don and Larry helped build the family home on the property in 1962. Sandra soon landed a great job as library assistant at Rogue River Elementary School in 1964. Sandra's talents for organization, communication, and writing helped her earn a promotion to office manager of Rogue River Elementary School where she built her career for 30 years. As the office manager, Sandra was in charge of the school's budget, writing reports, organizing substitute teachers and lesson plans, and many other administrative duties. She also worked closely with children who came into her office needing help with injuries and illnesses. She always had a sweet, friendly spirit at school and was loved by students, teachers, and the two principals she worked with who gave her significant leadership responsibilities. One of the students Sandra worked with at Rogue River Elementary said, "She gave us love and kindness through her gentle spirit." Sandra was also a wonderful Sunday School teacher in Rogue River for many years; she used puppets and flannel boards to teach Bible stories, and she always provided cookies or candy for the children, too. Sandra retired from Rogue River Elementary School after 30 years of service in 1996; she earned a much-deserved PERS retirement package that gave her a lovely life with her new husband she married in 1996, Jack Pyle. Jack loves tennis and sports, and he built a tennis court on the Rogue River family homestead where there used to be a cow pasture. Sandra and Jack enjoyed traveling and camping together with their family and friends. Sandra and Jack enjoyed several cruise ship vacations to Jamaica, Cozumel, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, the Caribbean, and a 15-day Hawaiian Cruise--all with their good friends Rufus and Judy Pitts and other friends from church. Sandra's children and grandchildren enjoyed many summer and spring break camping trips with Grandma Sandra and Grandpa Jack in their fancy fifth wheel that the grandchildren loved. Sandra's children and grandchildren have many vivid, special memories of trips to Grandma Sandra's fun home in Rogue River for weekends, holidays, birthday celebrations, and summer vacations. Sandra always loved to decorate her home beautifully for holidays, especially Christmas. She created memories for her family that will be forever cherished. Sandra's most precious loves of her life were her grandchildren: William Stephen Moffett, Isaac James Clark, Natalie Elizabeth Clark, Jeffrey Iles and Jeff's children: Aaron, Jonathan, McKenzie, and Emma; Jack's children: Rob Pyle and Cindy Pyle and grandson, Austin Pyle. Other survivors are daughter Linda's husband, Bob Olson, and daughter Julie's husband, Robert Moffet. Sandra has many nieces and nephews who also love her dearly. Sandra's family and friends meant the world to her, and we love her with all of our hearts. She was the rock of the family-always strong and victorious--even in the face of life's hardships. Sandra loved her church where her family has planned her memorial service. Sandra's family would love to see you at her memorial service on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00am: Grace Baptist Church, 4223 E. Evans Creek Rd., Rogue River, Oregon 97527.
