Ruth loved playing cards with friends, going on senior trips, being part of the Red Hat Society and Missionary Baptist Church and nurturing her many friendships. These were her activities in the days just before her sudden death from a stroke. Ruth was born in Colorado and spent more than 20 years in San Francisco before moving to Santa Rosa, and then to Grants Pass. Before her retirement, Ruth worked as a book keeper in San Francisco. She loved to travel , camp and boat, with her husband Jack, who was her closest friend for 45 years. Ruth was the ultimate home maker and was a marvelous cook and baker. She and Jack prided themselves on their wonderful garden. Ruth is survived by her sister in law Edna Wilson, Ruth was the adored Aunt of Jim and Bette Dalrymple of San Rafael and the nephew in law of Glen Dewey of Chico. She was great aunt to David and Mark Dewey, Brian and Cal Dalrymple of Novato and Lisa Dalrymple Binger of Folsom. She was the great great aunt of Elise and Brandon Dewey, Ashley and Jennifer Binger, James Dalrymple, and Dana and Bradley Dalrymple. Ruth was fortunate to have a loyal friend and neighbor in Marlise Wilson. Ruth's gentle ways, humanism and generosity will live on in all who knew her. Ruth sponsored many charities. Save the Children, Habitat For Humanity, The Nature Conservancy, and the Sierra Club are among them.
