Ruth Charlotte King

Ruth Charlotte King, 96 of Grants Pass passed away, January 1, 2013 at her home in Grants Pass, Oregon. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Rogue Lea Estates Clubhouse. Private interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass, Oregon Ruth was born on November 30, 1916 in Pennsylvania to Charles and Anna McDermid. On October 3, 1937 she married Henry King in Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death in 1984. Ruth moved to Grants Pass from Southern California in the early 1970's. She graduated from Southern Oregon University in 1981 at the age of 65. From age 75-85 she worked as a real estate broker for Windermere Real Estate. Ruth was a member of River Valley Community Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling, reading, square dancing and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include daughter, Barbara Shrode of Grants Pass, Oregon; sister, June Kinnee of Southern California; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth Thomas and 2 grandchildren.
