Roy Lee Craig, 59, of Grants Pass, OR, peacefully went to be with the Lord on
Saturday, April 17, 2021, at his parent’s home after a long battle with cancer.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Ronnie, at Hillcrest Cemetery
and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Roy Craig was born April 1, 1962, to Fred and Anita Craig of Williams, OR.
He is the oldest of three children. Roy grew up on a farm in Williams.
He attended elementary school in Williams, junior high at Lincoln Savage,
and graduated Hidden Valley High School class of 1980.
Roy married Ronnie Lynne Curtis in 1985 in Grants Pass.
Their son, Monte Lee, was born May 31, 1991, and second son, Shawn,
followed May 3, 1994. Roy worked many years as a certified lumber inspector,
first at Spaulding and Son, and later at Rough and Ready Mill.
After the mills closed, he completed auto mechanic classes at Rogue Community College.
Roy loved spending time in the outdoors camping, fishing,
and hunting with his family. He enjoyed many fishing trips with
Ronnie, their sons, and friends at Union Creek.
Another favorite was camping near Lake Earl at the coast.
Many hunting trips with his brother Larry, dad, and uncles were truly treasured.
Roy remembered elk hunting in the Wallowa Mountains that included great-uncles as really special.
Roy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ronnie, and his sister,
Annette Wickham. He is survived by his sons, Monte and Shawn;
brother, Larry Craig; and parents, Fred and Anita Craig, all of Grants Pass.
