Ronald Lee Godsey, 73, of Grants Pass, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Ron was born to the late Perry and Bertie Godsey on November 17, 1939 in Jenks, Oklahoma. After moving to Southern California as a child, he graduated from Montebello High School in 1957. On January 3, 1967 Ron achieved his dream of becoming a police officer. He served with the Anaheim Police Department for 28 years. In 1972 Ron was promoted to Detective and in 1979 he was assigned to the Sex Crimes Detail where he continued his honorable and faithful service until his retirement in 1994. Ron was charter member of the Crisis Intervention Unit and he was affiliated with the Southern California Sexual Assault Investigators. Ron was a member of the committee that formed a uniform Sexual Assault Medical Examination. Ron married Monti Craig in 1994 and they lived together in Norco, CA before relocating to Grants Pass, OR following his retirement. Ron was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Ketckikan, Alaska where he enjoyed his time on the boat of his dear friends Bill and Sharon Kacenas. Ron was blessed to have many special friends in his life. Ron enjoyed the time he spent with George and Gloria Straka and Steve Young, and their friendship was cherished by Ron. Ron is survived by his wife Monti of Grants Pass, OR; his daughters Jaqueline Stanicek (Mike Stanicek) of Oceanside, CA and Brenda Godsey of McKinleyville, CA; his granddaughters Kari Carlson (Ryan Carlson) of Vista, CA and Brandi Stanicek of Oceanside, CA; his sister Reba Boerstler (M. Harold Boerstler) of Duncan, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Perry and Bertie, his two brothers Bill and Jerry and sisters Mary Ruth and Louise. In lieu of a funeral service, a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Ron's family and friends will gather to share memories of how this wonderful man touched their lives.
