Ronald M. Abram, 77, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at his home. A private family memorial gathering will be held. Abram was born June 23, 1932, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, and he graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 1950. During the Korean War, he served in the Army as a laboratory technician. He attended Oberlin College in Ohio and held several odd jobs on campus. He was hired as a manager for the fledgling Food Service Company and later became the budget and statistical director of the then-nationwide organization. Along with two of his associates, he co-founded College Food Service Company and he had a successful career as the financial director of that nationwide company. After retiring to Grants Pass in 1974, he owned several businesses, including Home, Hearth and Candle gift shop and Heidi's restaurant. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, listening to music and his computer. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Beverly (Lee) Abram, survivors include three daughters, Becca Wood, Renee Smith and Barbara Esson, all of Grants Pass; a son, Mark Abram of Portland; a brother, Allan Abram of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a half-brother, Myron Ryglewica of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
