The world bid farewell to a truly one-of-a-kind individual this past Christmas.
Born on October 3, 1958, in Aurora, Illinois, Robert Paul Phillips was the beloved son of Charles Lloyd Phillips and Joy Mary (Kresen) Phillips. He grew up in a lively household with five sisters—two older and three younger—and one older brother. In 1964, the family relocated from their Naperville home, making brief stops in Lockport before settling in San Diego, California.
Robert embodied the quintessential bookworm, devouring any book he could get his hands on. His insatiable curiosity fueled a lifelong passion for learning, embracing every opportunity to acquire knowledge. When computers emerged, he enthusiastically embraced this new frontier, always eager to explore the latest advancements.
Beyond his intellectual pursuits, Robert was known for his warm humor, infectious deep laugh, and radiant smile. He brought joy to those around him with his vibrant personality.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, all four grandparents, and one grandnephew. He leaves behind his partner, Cyndi Tester, their cherished son, Charles Amos, Robert's five sisters, his brother, 19 nieces and nephews, numerous grandnieces and nephews, and one great-grandnephew—all of whom will deeply miss his presence.
