Robert Alden Manni, 94, of Grants Pass died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at his home. A celebration of his life with military honors will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. He was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Charles and Cora Manni. He graduated from Union High School in Grand Rapids. On Sept. 11, 1942, he married Leola "Lee" Steward, who survives. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Forces from July 29, 1943, until his honorable discharge on Nov. 8, 1946. For 25 years, he worked for the state of California Highway Department. In 1971, he and his wife moved to Grants Pass from Eureka, Calif. They later moved to Salem, where he worked as a maintenance superintendent for a property management company for 20 years. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and he enjoyed coin collecting, woodworking and Bible history. In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Vikki Moffatt of Grants Pass, J.L. Young of Phoenix, Ariz., Penni Manni of Seattle, and Trisha Leggett of Salem; four sons, Robert Manni of Moses Lake, Wash., David Manni of Salem, Darrin Manni of Grants Pass, and Derren Leggett of Salem; and seven grandchildren.
