Richard James Hignett

Richard James Hignett, 65 of Grants Pass passed away January 27, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. Celebration of life with military honors will be held Thursday evening 6:00 PM at Stephens Family Chapel with Pastor Ken Bern officiating. He was born on December 17, 1946 in Jamaica, New York to Wesley & Lillian Hignett. Richard entered in the United States Marine Corps on January 7, 1966, Brooklyn, New York. Richard received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained while serving in Vietnam. He was honorable discharged on May 31, 1969. Richard married Marizel Yamit on November 24, 2005 in the Philippines. Richard enjoyed old cars, traveling, fishing and hunting. He considered him self a "Dirty Old Man". In addition to his wife Marizel Hignett of Grants Pass, survivors include 3 sons, Wesley Hignett, William Hignett and Mark Hignett all of Grants Pass; sister Susan Gallagher or Virginia.
