Randy Reedy, 66, of Grants Pass died Monday, April 15, 2013 at his home, with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29th at 2 pm at Stephens Family Chapel. A potluck and time to celebrate Randy's life will follow at his home. A committal service will be held on Monday, July 1st at 10 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR. Randy was born April 18, 1946 in Burbank, CA to Richard and Eileen (Hopkins) Reedy. He grew up in Long Beach, CA. Later, he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He served from 1967 to 1969 and earned the award of Marksman. On June 21, 1971 he married Judy Gilmer. They later moved to Grants Pass to raise their two children. Prior to moving to Grants Pass in 1976, he worked for Disney and Universal Studios, building movie sets. Randy was a talented craftsman and wood-worker. Upon moving to Grants Pass, he initially owned a cabinet shop, Daystar Custom Cabinets. He later expanded to build furniture, as well as clocks made of wood and colored glass. Randy loved the Oregon outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and rafting the Rogue River. He also enjoyed visiting the casinos, playing cribbage and pool. His beloved dog, Star, was his constant companion for the past 14 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Reedy (and fiancé Summer) of Grants Pass, OR; a daughter, Cheryl Chapman (and husband Jeff), of Eugene, OR and three grandchildren, Kristofer, Emilee and Maddie. Randy's bright smile and warm personality will be missed by all, but never forgotten.
