Phyllis was born in 1934, in Earlimart, CA. and moved with her family to Vallejo in 1941. As the oldest of 6 children, Phyllis was largely responsible for her sister's and brother's upbringing. In 1948, Phyllis attended Chabot High School. In 1950, she married Homer Hodge and later Floyd McGregor Sr. in 1959. In 1991, she married Don Turner. Later she retired from Mare Island NSY, at which time they moved to Cave Junction, OR eventually settling in Grants Pass, OR. One of Phyllis's favorites quotes was "I am in good shape for the shape I am in." The most notable attribute people remember about Phyllis was her cute little giggle and her big, bright smile. Phyllis's family was the most important thing in her life. She lived for visits from her family and friends. She loved bowling, the outdoors, genealogy and scrapbooking and she looked forward to weekend trips on their house boat in the Delta. When Phyllis wore the color blue (her favorite color) her eyes lit up as bright the blue sky.
