Pattie Barnes

Patricia "Pattie" Barnes, 73, of Grants Pass died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Laurel Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Christian Center. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Barnes was born July 8, 1937, in Whittier, Calif., to Bauder and Alta Austin. On Sept. 5, 1958, in Terwilliger Valley, Calif., she married George Stanley "Stan" Barnes, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1969 from Santa Cruz, Calif. For many years, she provided child care in her home. She was a member of Parkway Christian Center, where she was involved in girls ministry and taught Missionettes. She enjoyed shopping, camping with her sisters at the beach, spending time with her grandchildren and caring for children. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Tim and Dan Barnes, both of Grants Pass; a daughter, Sherri Soares of Grants Pass; her twin sister, Bonnie Marcotte of Grants Pass; a sister, Lois Gidney of Gold Hill; two sisters, Joan Cassell of Grants Pass, and Darlene Young of Merlin; a brother, Frank Austin of Grants Pass; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
