February 4, 1937 — May 9, 2024

Grants Pass, Oregon

PATSY JO "PAT" WOLFF (SCHURTER), age 87, wife of Harry Wolff, passed away at an adult foster home in Grants Pass on May 9, 2024.  Pat was born on February 4, 1937 in San Bernardino, California to Maynard & Hazel Schurter. She graduated from Colton High School in 1954.  She was married to Harry in 1962.  They lived in Bloomington, California where they raised two children, Dolly and Dan.   After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in English from Cal State San Bernardino in 1982,  Pat worked in numerous public relations positions. She worked for San Bernardino Valley College, Cal State University and the Fontana YWCA.  In 2002, Pat retired as the Director of Public Relations for the County of San Bernardino, California.

Her hobbies included traveling, camping, hiking, writing, photography, antique photo restoration, jewelry making and stained-glass art.   She belonged to numerous clubs and organizations.  Pat & Harry have been faithful members of Our Savior Lutheran GP church for many years.

Her family has fond memories of her teaching her grandsons how to use a slingshot and the times that she  placed her son and a grandson in a headlock (not on the same day).   We also enjoyed her famous Pomegranate Popcorn Balls.

Pat loved country music.  She played guitar and sang on the local radio station when she was in elementary school.  But, her first love was writing.  Her numerous published works varied in topic and genre.  At the tender age of 10, Pat submitted her first article titled "The Lemur" which was published in the Bloomington News in 1948.   She interviewed the well-known western writer, Louis L'Amor for a local newspaper.  Twice, she won the Freedom Foundation Award from Valley Forge.

At the time of her passing, she leaves behind her husband, two children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many wonderful friends.

We are honored that you chose to join us today to remember Pat.  She will be interred at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
