Neal Allen Buckmaster, 59, of Grants Pass died Monday, April 12, 2010, at his home of lung cancer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grants Pass High School Marching Band, Attention: Leslie O'Brien, 830 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526; or to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501. Buckmaster was born Feb. 16, 1951, in Grants Pass, where he grew up and worked on the family dairy in the Redwood area. He was a member of the GPHS band and Ski Club. After graduating from GPHS in 1969, he worked in construction in Grants Pass and Alaska. When he returned from Alaska, he began managing the family dairy. After the cows were sold, he started driving truck and eventually owned a truck. He enjoyed skiing, fast cars and fishing. Survivors include his partner, Norma Harris; a daughter, Deborah Whitehead Buckmaster; and two brothers, Bruce and Gary. His parents, Dorthea and Glen, died before him.
