Morey Hale, 90, of Gold Hill died at home after a brief illness. Military services will be in San Diego, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at a later date. No local services are planned. Contributions may be made to: Providence Hospice, 2033 Commerce Dr., Medford, OR. 97504 Morey was born August 4, 1918 in Cromwell, Oklahoma, moving to Modesto, CA. at a very young age. He was in the grocery and wholesale foods business till 1964, when he retired to San Diego, CA, living aboard the vintage sailboat he restored with wife, Lori and daughter Janet. He later became a yacht broker and participated in races in Mexico and Hawaii aboard a 51-ft. yawl... He was a referee with the American Power Boat Association for over 45 years and most recently was Assistant Referee at Boatnik in Grants Pass, OR. He raced his own limited hydroplane for over 30 years, and was the âStarterâ for the San Diego Unlimited Hydroplane Race until his untimely death. He was a veteran of WWII, having seen action in Luzon and Leyte, in the Philippines. He was an avid member of the Rogue Valley Corvette Club and enjoyed participating in shows, parades and rallies with his treasured â54 corvette. He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Lori Hale of Gold Hill, 2 sons, Ronal Hale of Turlock, CA, and Jerrol Hale of Hayward, CA, a daughter, Janet Brough, of Laconia, NH, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
