Michael "Chief" Barber, 55, of Grants Pass died Dec. 15, 2012, at his home. A service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Sparlin Cemetery in Williams. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Park in the spring. He was born April 12, 1957, in Redding, Calif., to Barbera and Claude Barber. In 1978, he moved to Grants Pass. On May 12, 1984, he married his wife Phyllis, who survives. He adopted her two daughters. From 1978 to 1982, he served in the Marines. His primary occupation was in electronic installation. He was an active member of the Grants Pass powwows and enjoyed going to town in his electric chair to visit and make friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jennie Radley and Sara Holaday; two sisters, Cindie Barber and Marcia Gourneau; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. A brother, Dan, died before him.
