Michael Leroy Aber was born on August 28, 1948 in San Francisco, California to Kenneth and Dorothy Aber (Wasson). He graduated from Crestmoor High School and attended Diablo Valley Community College. Michael faithfully served his country in the Navy for ten years, and married Karen Aber (Kennord) on February 15, 1975 in Vallejo, California shortly before being discharged.
Michael had a long career as an electronics technician, working for the Bay Area Rapid Transit, Diablo Valley Community College where he previously attended, and for himself. He has been part of many clubs such as Southern Oregon Fly Fishing, Josephine County Sportsman Association, and SASS. Michael spent his free time fishing, shooting, and taking trips in his trailer. He and Karen eventually moved to Grants Pass in 2013, and have stayed there ever since.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children, Michelle Huston, Jennifer Courtin, Bill Aber, and Gary Aber; his grandchildren, Anysser Aber, Jayden Chervanik, Nyla Chervanik, Bowen Chervanik, Faulken Chervanik, Robert Huston Jr, Amber Shattuck, Kayla Jilek, and four others; and his three great-grandchildren, Princeton Greene, Zira Greene, and Kinsley Jilek.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Saturday August 24, 2024 at 10:00am, and all those who knew and loved Michael are welcome to attend. Their address is 224 NW D Street in Grants Pass. His urn will then be interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
