Mary Peggy Helgeson

M. Peggy Helgeson, 69, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center. Helgeson was born March 25, 1939, in Oakland, Calif., to John and Mabel Steele. She graduated from Holy Names Catholic High School in Oakland in 1957. In 1970, she moved to Grants Pass from California. On March 29, 1979, in Reno, she married Franklin Helgeson, who survives. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed cats, riding motorcycles, cooking, canning, crafts and genealogy. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Edith Katarzy of Portland; a son, Jeffrey Nelson of Antioch, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
