Mary "Alfie" Chapman, 64 of Grants Pass passed away peacefully with family by her side May 11, 2013 at her home in Grants Pass after fighting a short battle with brain cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held this Friday, May 17, 2013, 1:00 PM at Stephens Family Chapel in Grants Pass. She was born on October 7, 1948 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Donald and June Newman. Mary graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1966 and then went on to beauty school. She was married to Rick Chapman. Mary worked along side her husband as owner/operator of Plaza Sewing and Vacuum Center. She was also original owner/creator of Savannah Faire in Grants Pass. She enjoyed art, writing, designing, drawing, thinking and loving! She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandkids and being a part of anything they were doing. In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Cole Chapman of Grants Pass, Oregon; daughter, Leslie Watson of Eugene, Oregon; brothers, Richard Newman of Long Beach, Washington and Steve Newman of Knoxville, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Kyle and Ben Watson and Taylor and Kobe Chapman.
