Marion John Lovitt, 95, of Wilderville died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Fair View Transitional Health Center. No services are planned. He was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Los Angeles to Cyril and Margaret Lovitt. During World War II, he served in the Army from 1941 until his discharge in 1945. On Nov. 26, 1959, in Cambridge, England, he married Jean Richardson, who survives. He worked as an engineer in aerospace for many years and most recently worked as a forest ranger. In 1988, he and his wife moved to Wilderville. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges. He enjoyed sports and he played football for Taft High School and Fresno State. He also enjoyed playing tennis, body surfing, John Wayne movies, and spending time at the ocean and in the mountains. He especially enjoyed his children. In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Glen and Chris Lovitt, both of Wilderville, and Bill Lovitt of Grants Pass; a daughter, Jeanie Maschmeyer of Grants Pass; a sister, Verna Lovitt of Grants Pass; and four grandchildren. A son, Michael Lovitt, died before him.
