Marilyn Elvera Smith

Marilyn Elvera Smith. 68 of Merlin passed away, Monday, October 1, 2012 at her home. Visitation will be held Friday, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Stephens Family Chapel Funeral Services, Saturday 11:00 AM at Stephens Family Chapel with Interment following at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. Reverend Joy-Anne Huth of the Center for Spiritual Living Rogue Valley officiating. She was born on February 29, 1944 in Evanston, Illinois to Nicholas and Viola Schaul. Marilyn graduated from St. Xavier University with masters in psychiatric nursing. On July 31, 1971 in Milton, Wisconsin she married James W. Smith who survives. Together they moved to Southern Oregon in 1990 from Illinois. Marilyn began working for the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics where she worked until her retirement in 2008. She was a member of the Center for Spiritual Living Rogue Valley. Marilyn enjoyed macramé, needlepoint, counted cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, reading, enjoying the beauty of nature and caring for her dog. In addition to her husband survivors include two children James B. Smith of Dallas, Oregon and Katherine Clark of Grants Pass; three grandchildren Sydney Smith and Malbry Freimnth of Dallas, Oregon and Amber Clark of Grants Pass; two sisters Diane Wassink of Merrill, Wisconsin and Carolin Bills of Brookfield, Wisconsin.
