Marilyn Jean Flickinger, 84 of Grants Pass, Oregon died February 19, 2023 of congestive heart failure at Asante Three Rivers Community Hospital. A Memorial Dinner was held in Marilyn's honor May 20, 2023 attended by family and close friends.
Marilyn was born in Akron, Ohio May 15, 1938 to Joseph and Dolly Fair. She had four siblings and graduated from Tallmadge High School in Ohio.
She met her husband, Richard (Dick) Flickinger while he attended Wheaton college. They were married on August 30, 1957. They made their home for twenty years in Wheaton, Illinois and had four children, Mark, Robin, Lisa, and Shelley who only lived 8 weeks. They were strong followers of Jesus and were very active in their church, Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.
Dick was an accountant and Marilyn was a homemaker. They also owned a school bus company, Rich Lee Vans that transported special needs children for over 15 years. Even though they loved the Wheaton area they sold their school bus business in 1984 and relocated to Grants Pass, Oregon. Their children were all grown and married.
Dick and Marilyn became very active members of River Valley Community Church with Dick eventually going on staff as Pastor of Finance for 20 years. Together Dick and Marilyn led Crown Ministries which helped people improve their finances and promoted stewardship values. They also had a special ministry of calling church members on their birthdays and anniversaries. That was quite a task with a church of over 2000 members.
On August 30, 2017 Marilyn and Dick celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin (Jack) Clift of Spokane, Washington and Lisa (Marty) Clapp of Grants Pass, Oregon; daughter-in-law Debbie Flickinger; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
