Louise E. Ford, 88, of Grants Pass died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stephens Family Chapel. Ford was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Las Vegas, N.M., to Raymond Hemstreet and Mary Amelia Gyana. She moved to Los Angeles when she was a young girl. In 1941, she moved to Oregon with her husband, Winford R. "Slim" Houck, and they lived in the Lookingglass Valley, where she had two daughters. She later married Robert E. Ford and gained two stepdaughters. Together, they had two more daughters and a son. The family moved to northern California, where they lived in Arcata, Jackson and Yreka before returning to Oregon in the late 1960s. She often worked as a nursing assistant while living in Butte Falls and White City. She retired from the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary and moved to Grants Pass. She was a member of Christian Singles for more than 25 years and she attended Parkway Christian Center. She enjoyed fishing, camping, country living and raising her large family. She also enjoyed traveling to the coast, listening to gospel music, swimming at the YMCA and being with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Albion of Sutherlin, Dorothy Lippke of Trail, and Susan Ford of Roseburg; a son, David Ford of Butte Falls; two stepdaughters, Jamie Doud of Grants Pass, and Joanne Harrold of Tasmania, Australia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Kay Ford Hoadley, died in 2007.
