Loneta Francis Hiscox was born Loneta Francis Rodgers in Clovis, New Mexico on December 18, 1922. Much of her childhood was spent in the Dustbowl and the Depression of the 1930s. To start a new life, her family moved to Humbolt Country, California where they started attending the Nazarene Church. In Sunday School and Bible Study she met her future husband, Samuel Henry Hiscox. After World War II was declared, Samuel volunteered for the Navy and spent the next 8 years battling in the Pacific. Loneta moved to San Francisco, California and married her Sam on June 2, 1942. Loneta then worked at both the Navy Department and the Childrenâs Shriner Hospital in San Francisco while waiting for her husband to come home. Two children, Judi and Ron were born to Loneta and Sam in San Francisco. After the war, Loneta and Sam moved to Redwood City, California where they lived happily for over 50 years. They had three more children in Redwood City, Sam Jr., Keith and Joyce. Loneta worked for the Nazarene Church in Redwood City for many years. She was a dedicated Christen and a devoted mother. Lonetaâs life centered on her family and her church. Loneta passed away on May 13, 2009, after a year and a half at Marieâs Carriage House, in Grants Pass, OR, where she received much love and wonderful. Loneta is preceded in death by her husband Sam, her son Ron, her son Keith and her granddaughter Jackie. She leaves her daughter Judi Hiscox of Grants Pass, Oregon, her son Sam Hiscox of Winters, California and her daughter Joyce Blatterman of Redmond, Washington. She also leaves a brother O.L. Rodgers of Medford, Oregon and a sister Mae Johnson of McKinnlyville, California. She also leaves 8 beloved grandchildren and 5 beloved great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved and cherished her beautiful smile and godly ways.
