Lloyd died peacefully at home in Grants Pass, Oregon, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, surrounded by the love of his family, after years of heart disease and a short period of hospice care. Born in Sonora, California on 10/24/1926. Preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Ina, his brother Bill and sons Lloyd and Dave. Survived by brother Robert (Carol) and sister Virginia. Graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento, CA. Proudly served in the U.S. Navy 1944-1946. He retired as Safety Director for Pacific Motor Trucking, a division of Southern Pacific Railroad in 1988, with 40 years' service. Married to Willeta (Billie) Luke for 25 years. Proud father of Lloyd III (deceased in 1969), Steve (Vestal), Dave (deceased in 1969) and Tom (Lynn). Married the love of his life, Dreda, in 1975, becoming Dad to Sheryl (Terry Kingsley) and Michelle (Michael Nosal). He was involved in community activities including Little League head umpire, representative for national truckers' license, active in Machinist/Aerospace Union and American Trucking Association, served as VP of California Trucking Association. Lloyd served in church leadership in many capacities with several church families before assisting as a volunteer with Mobile Missionaries (MMAP) in various church and school building projects throughout the US. He moved to Oregon in 1996 to help at New Hope Christian School for 17 years and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Grants Pass. He loved God, Life and his Country, reading his Bible and sharing prayerful support for missionaries abroad. He genuinely loved his family: his dear wife, 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Remembrance services will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Grants Pass, OR, on Saturday, February 8, at 11:00 AM and at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery (5810 Midway Road in Dixon, CA) on Monday, February 24, at 2:00 PM. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, are requested to be made to Faith Baptist Church (3405 Williams Hwy, Grants Pass, OR 97527), New Hope Christian School (5061 New Hope Road, Grants Pass, OR 97527), or Love Joy Hospice (939 S.E. 8th Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526).
