Lettie Ellen Geer, 97, of Grants Pass died Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Countryside Village Assisted Living. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, in the Activity Room at Countryside Village, 1700 Kellenbeck Ave. Stephens Family Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 S.E. 8th Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526. She and her twin sister, Laura, were born on June 30, 1916 in Merritt, British Columbia, Canada to William Henry and Susan Jefferson. The family first moved to Sultan, WA, then to Grants Pass when the girls were 14. After graduating from Grants Pass High School in 1934 she married James E. Thomas and had two children. She became a widow at an early age and moved to San Francisco to live with her sister while attending business college. Later when Boeing Aircraft hired Lettie, she moved to Seattle. While residing in Seattle Lettie became reacquainted with a friend of the family, whom she had known and dated in high school. They married and moved back to Grants Pass. Following his death, she married Ray Geer, who had also been a high school friend. He preceded Lettie in death in 2003. Lettie enjoyed doing volunteer work, especially at the senior meal sites, reading, playing computer games, but her passion was needlework. Her counted cross-stitch pictures looked like paintings. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Harrold-Rusk of Cave Junction; a son, James S. Thomas of Caldwell, Idaho; two step-sons, Thomas Geer and Mitchell Geer of the Seattle area, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, 11 great, great grandchildren and one great, great, great grandchild.
