Leta Kaye Baertschiger

March 18, 1963 — April 15, 2017

Leta Kaye Baertschiger of Grants Pass died Saturday, April 15, 2017, as a result of an accident. A service will be held Saturday, April 29th at 1:00 PM at Parkway Christian Fellowship in Grants Pass, OR. Condolences may be sent to: hb@hbcompany.net. Contributions can be made in her name to the Boys and Girls Club of the Rogue Valley, 203 SE 9th Street, Grants Pass, OR 97527. Leta was born in Roseburg, Oregon on March 18, 1963 to Leon and Arleta White. Leta was one of four children. Her family moved to Grants Pass in 1977 where she attended North Valley High School. In 1986, she met Herman Baertschiger, Jr. and they were married. Herman and Leta have three children: Michael, Dirk, and Tyler, and two grandsons, Brennon and Ethan, all of Grants Pass, OR. Leta worked for Three Rivers School District for many years and centered herself around children's activities. Leta enjoyed living on the ranch, gardening, and growing her own flowers for which she won many ribbons at the Josephine County Fair. Leta was a phenomenal singer and her first performance was at the age of five. She was always a part of one band or another throughout her life, playing the drums and singing. Leta also recorded several songs in Nashville, Tennessee's music row. Leta was a volunteer where her focus was on children, she specifically enjoyed helping with 4-H, The Boys and Girls Club, and children's sporting activities. She is survived by her husband, Herman Baertschiger Jr; her sons, Michael Gaylor, Dirk Baertschiger, and Tyler Baertschiger; her grandsons Brennon Gaylor and Ethan Gaylor; her parents, Leon and Arlita White; her brothers Dale McAlpine, and Fredrick White, and her younger sister, Luella Plunkett. Leta also has many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Leta was a caring person who loved her family and was loved by all who knew her. She dedicated herself to her family while never asking for much in return except, knowing everyone was doing well. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will always be with us.
