Leonard "Lenny" Marc Holland, 35, died suddenly on May 28, 2012 in Ashland, Oregon. He was born July 26, 1976 in Fountain Valley, California. He was educated at Bethany Christian Academy until age seven when he moved with his family to the Dayton, Iowa area. He graduated from Southeast Webster School District and attended Iowa State University for three years. He then moved to the Portland, Oregon area for ten years where he sang, wrote and played music in a variety of bands, including several of his own. Lenny decided to return to school and at the time of his death was scheduled on June 16, 2012 to receive his BS degree in Journalism from Southern Oregon University. Lenny was the Associate Editor-in-chief and entertainment editor of the university newspaper, The Siskiyou. His writings and articles won several statewide awards. Lenny and Heather (fiancée) had been accepted into the graduate school at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California. Lenny was known for his intelligence, gentleness, kindness and compassion. He had a great sense of humor. He had a profound impact on his family and many friends. He cared deeply for those less fortunate. He delighted in his nieces and nephews and loved his family. Lenny was an accomplished musician and could play almost any instrument. Music was a large part of Lenny's life. He was also an artist, photographer and brilliant writer. He enjoyed camping and loved the outdoors. He was a unique person-strong, yet possessed of a gentle soul that loved all God's creation. For all who knew Lenny, the world is a little darker with his death. He will be greatly missed. Lenny is survived by his fiancée, Heather Halvorson (whom he deeply loved), his mother and father Leonard and Cynthia Holland, his grandfather, William (Sissie) Turnage; Brothers: Ron (Lisa) Crume, Steve (Neena) Crume, Daniel (Jennifer) Holland; ten nieces and nephews and one great-niece. His Aunt and Uncles are: Fran (Darrell) Cottrell, Phil Holland, Jerry (Belinda) Holland, Bill (Bea) Turnage, Gary (Karen) Carmichael and Ruth Miller. Cousins Sherrie Henjum, Amanda Holland, Greg Holland and John Salidaga also survive Lenny. There will be a celebration of Lenny's Life on June 23, 2012, 11:00 AM at Edgewater Christian Fellowship, 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526, officiated by Pastor Steve Keeton and Pastor Glen Litwiller.
