On December 5, 2010 Leonard Terrance Hogan, 78, of Grants Pass, Oregon was welcomed to glory and into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His loving wife, two daughters and two of his granddaughters were with him when he passed. He had only just a week before been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; and although we thought our time with him would be short, we didnât think he would leave us so quickly. He was born on August 25th, 1932 to Alice Sedros Hogan and Owen Lennard Hogan. Until age six the family lived at various lumber camps in northern California and southern Oregon. He started school in Montague, California where he resided until 1941 when the family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1951. He attended John Muir College and Pasadena City College. He worked summers at his dadâs lumber mill, SH&W (Schmitt Brothers, Hogan and Weiss) in Grants Pass, Oregon. He then attended University of Oregon School of Architecture from 1953 -1957 and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. On September 22, 1956 he married Sallie Adeline Carson of Grants Pass, where they made their home. They had four children before they divorced in 1975 and maintained a good relationship throughout the years. During their marriage they moved to Portland, Oregon in 1960, where he worked at Douglas Fir Plywood Association as a Quality Control Specialist until 1962. From early 1962 to November 1964, he founded and owned Modular Home Components, Molalla, Oregon. He constructed pre-formed beams and roof trusses using a then, new technique of gluing the wood/plywood components under extreme pressure, for prefabricated trusses and beams used in home construction. At that time, many of the old-school builders were hesitant to use the new technology. Now it is common practice. He was way ahead of his time. Len worked in the lumber and building industries as a manager. He also worked as a Plans Examiner for the cities of Grants Pass, Oregon and Yakima, Washington. He was extremely talented in architectural drawing and design, always meticulous in his work. He did many designs over the years. Len accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in July 1971. He attended Grace Bible Church. He met Clemence Jeanne Chauvin in 1983 at church and they were good friends for many years. Their relationship blossomed and they married on December 30, 1990. Their relationship was built on the foundation of Christâs love, which gave them the capacity to love freely and richly. They lived in Yakima, Washington, where they attended Autanum Pioneer Church. They later moved back to Grants Pass, Oregon, where they attended Grace Bible Church and later Calvary Chapel, where Len served as an elder. Throughout his years as a believer, he was grateful for the fact that God would send His own Son to suffer and die for him personally so that he and the rest of the world could live in eternity with God. Godâs love was his daily food, daily delight and refuge in dark times. Len enjoyed time with his family whenever he could. He loved them deeply and was always concerned for their spiritual welfare and interested in who they were. He loved his children and was always ready to get down on his knees and play with the grandkids. He had a great sense of humor and took part in his fair share of good natured ribbing. He did believe that there was a right and a wrong way to do most things. He had a strong love for his country and for the Constitution of the United States. He often worked for the election of righteous leaders. Len was very generous, humble and kind. He was loved by many and will be so missed. Len is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of nearly 20 years and his four children Michael Hogan of Akron, OH; Kathryn Hogan of Paradise, CA ; Susan Savino (Tony) of Kennewick, WA; and James Hogan of Grants Pass ,OR. He is also survived by his step children, David Dennis (Debbie) of Grants Pass, OR; Erin Morinishi (Dan) of La Palma, CA; Patrice Jones (Gilbert) of Richmond, VA ; James Dennis (JoAnn) of Grants Pass, OR; John Dennis (Juli) of Grants Pass, OR; and Michael Dennis (Leanne) of Grants Pass, OR. He is also survived by his brother Lewis Gregory Hogan of Albany, OR. He leaves 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
