Lauren S. Wood

Lauren S. Wood, 85, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at his home in Grants Pass following a brief battle with cancer. No services are planned. Wood was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Waterbury, Conn., to Paul and Ruby Wood. He was raised and educated in Waterbury. During World War II, he worked in the defense field. After his parents' death, in 1972, he moved to Long Beach, Calif., to live with his sister and her family. In 1981, they moved to Grants Pass. He enjoyed nature walks and would walk for miles, rain or shine, daily in the Colonial Valley area. He also enjoyed talking and feeding wildlife in and around his home. Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Baldwin of Grants Pass, nephew Richard Baldwin and great niece Melanie Duhon, both of Durham, N.C.
