Our Beloved Laura Kay Emptage 52, of the Applegate Valley has gone home to the lord on Jan 3, 2007 at Oregon Health Science University Hospital in Portland. A graveside service will be held at Missouri Flat Cemetery on North Applegate Road on Sat. 13th at l2pm sharp. The Memorial service will follow at 2pm at Applegate community Church, afterwards a "Celebration of Life" will be held at 6pm - at her son's house at 910 Valley View Dr. Grant Pass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Steven D. Emptage Family Fund, Bank of the Cascades, at any branch. Laura was born March 10, 1954 in Los Angeles, California to Charles P. and Marjorie (Harding) Donnelly. She spent her early years in Redondo Beach and Camarillo, Ca. then moved to the Applegate Valley in 1969. She Graduated from Grants pass High School in 1972 and attended Southern Oregon College for two and a half years. She was hired onto the "Restoration Crew" at Lithia Park after the 1975 flood in Ashland and worked at the Herb Pharm for a time after that. Laura was also the chairman of the Missouri Flat Cemetery. She met her future husband, Steve Emptage, at the Southern Oregon College in the fall of 1972 and stayed married together until the end. They moved to Applegate Valley in 1976. Her early activities with her family included trips to a cabin in the Los Padres National Park, trips up the Alcan Highway and camping in Yosemite. She enjoyed above all worshiping the Lord, where here musical talents shinned. She was an outstanding wife, mother, farmer and a friend to all. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter & four sons, Claire Crandall of Williams, OR and Noah, Trevor, Josef, and Benjamin Emptage all of Grants Pass, OR. Mother & Father Charles P. and Marjorie Donnelly as well as a sister & two brothers, Maureen Wright of Grant Pass, Jim Donnelly of Portland OR., Eric Donnelly of Grants Pass & 4 grandchildren. Preceded in death was daughter Julianna Emptage.
