Larry Lee Ablott, 72, of Grants Pass died December 30, 2009, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center with Bishop Lynden Woolley officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. He was born on October 13, 1937 to Donald and Edna Ablott in Orange, California. He was inducted into the United States Army on August 24, 1961 and served until his honorable discharge on August 23, 1967. He worked at his families business and then for Lockheed in California. He married Nancy Shackelford on March 25, 1978 in Canyon Country California. Together they moved to Grants Pass that same year. Larry then worked for the US Forest Service, U & R Trucking and most recently Bettendorf Trucking until he retired in 2000. Larry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints Murphy Creek Ward. He was always working on one project or another and enjoyed his life and his family. In addition to his wife of 32 years survivors include four sons, Michael Ablott of Grants Pass, David Ablott of Grants Pass, Wes Clair of Arizona and Ted Clair of Grants Pass; three daughters, Phyllis Barber of Grants Pass, Laura Vary of Grants Pass and Savanna Ablott of Grants Pass; Parents Dr. James and Edna Smith of California; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren
