Kurt Higuera, of Grants Pass, Oregon, completed his life's journey on June 20, 2017, at the age of 66. Kurt was born in Tucson, Arizona, Aprill 22, 1951, to Wencie and Helen Higuera and was the eldest of their three children. As a child, he attended Tucson's Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and was a graduate of Salpointe Catholic High School. Kurt earned his Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Arizona and his Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis. Kurt's extensive healthcare career spanned nearly four decades and he was a dedicated advocate for quality healthcare in rural communities. For the past nine years he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Siskiyou Community Healthcare Centers of Josephine County, Oregon. He was very proud of Siskiyou's accomplishments, its employees and board of directors, and was honored to be a team member of the Siskiyou Community Healthcare Center family. Kurt was passionate about Siskiyou's mission in the community and his work at Siskiyou was the most personally rewarding career. In 1973, Kurt married the love of his life, Donna. Together they raised three wonderful children; Erica, Ben and Daniel. He was also the proud grandfather of Morgan and Alex. Kurt had numerous interests and hobbies including nature photography, amateur archeology, growing chile peppers, and enjoying the beauty of Oregon's forests and coast. One of his greatest pleasures was eating the infamous Higuera family tacos. Kurt is survived by his loving family including his wife of 43 years, Donna; children, Erica, Ben and Daniel (Yasmin); grandchildren, Morgan and Alex; sisters, Paula Brown (Mack), Carole Higuera-Fisher (Mike); sister-in-law, Diana Youssef; many nieces, nephews and extended cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers, colleagues and his dogs, Red and Blue.
