Floyd attended Foursquare Church, has been a member of Warriors Bench, Kiwanias, Sutter Coast Hospital Auxilliary and Crescent Harbor Art Gallery. Married Barbara Jean Woodland on February 21,1954 in Clark, South Dakota. Floyd enlisted in the Air Force the day after High School and was a career serviceman of 20 years. He was stationed all over the United States as well as a tour in Korea, two tours to Viet Nam and a tour in Madrid, Spain. He retired to Crescent City in 1972 and worked for Simonson Lumber Mill for 10 years as a welder. When that job closed down, he went to school to become a barber and had his own shop for 10 years. After retiring, he and Barbara traveled for many years, either in a 5th wheel or on the train. Many of the trips included some of the grandchildren. Floyd's hobbies included fishing and anything outdoors, but his true passion was sports. He was a football fan but also enjoyed basketball, baseball and others. He found a way to remain active with sports through actively working with Pop Warner, Warrior Bench or any other place where the students were participating. He attended most all the games and most of the practices of most of the sports at the Del Norte High School. Many times he was given a jersey, a signed ball, a clock, a certificate or something else in appreciation for his time and advice. Many of the athletes still communicated with him after graduation. He helped Chuck Blackburn with announcing of the games for many years. After he no longer was able to help, he would still attend and cheer on his beloved Warriors. He truly had a special place in his heart for the kids and the staff and the entire athletic program. He was in Kiwanis for many years, and particularly enjoyed reading books to the students and giving each student their own book. He also worked in the corn booth at fairs, etc for many years. His most recent volunteer work was at the hospital where he worked in the one day stay department. His presence in our lives will be missed immensely, and though his journey with us has come to an end, his journey with the Lord has just begun. Knowing this will give our family strength moving forward. God Bless you Dad...
