Joyce Lorene Sommerfeldt

Joyce Lorene Sommerfeldt, 76, of Grants Pass died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Laurel Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. No services are planned. Sommerfeldt was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Wynnewood, Okla., to Ira and Elva London. She graduated from Sacramento Senior High School and she was the first female deputy sheriff for Sacramento County in California. She worked for the sheriff's office for many years. In September 2008, she moved to Grants Pass from Sacramento. She enjoyed traveling, reading and knitting. Survivors include two sisters, Eunice Munden of Grants Pass, and Wilma London of Rio Vista, Calif.; and two brothers, Dale and Erv London, both of Sacramento, Calif.
