Our beloved and precious Joseph H. Browell died peacefully on
Monday, October 7, 2019, at Rogue Regional Medical Center.
He was born on January 21, 1934, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to
his father, John N. Browell, and his mother, Alice M. Browell. He had
a nice childhood with his four siblings:âJohn âJackâ Browell of
Marshfield, Wisconsin, died July 2010; Peggy Renfors of Maryland, died
2004; Frank Browell, of Maryland, died 1975; and is survived by his
amazing sister, Mary Kathleen Browell Sennello of Marshfield,
Wisconsin. He enjoyed his five beautiful nieces in his lifetime, all
whom he loved and whom loved him!
Growing up he wanted to join the military and was soon drafted
into the Korean War on October 7, 1952, at the age of 18. It was a
proud achievement for him. He also did four years in the Naval Reserve
from 1966 to 1970. He always spoke fondly of loving to serve this
great country. He recently (September 2018) had the opportunity to
travel with the Honor Guard back to Washington D.C. to commemorate his
service to his country and to pay respects to all who serve! What a
journey! What a dream!
In 1961, he married the love of his life, Eloisa Mazariegos in
Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. They met while she was in college at the
University of Washington D.C. He followed her back to her country
where they were wed! He was very appreciative of her culture, learning
Spanish and enjoyed listening to Latin music. They decided to move out
to California and settled in Buena Park, and later in Fullerton,
California.
He had a great career and very much enjoyed his traveling salesman
position as a wholesale account executive for K&M Co., working many
territories including Las Vegas, Scottsdale, San Diego, Bakersfield,
Visalia, and everywhere in between. He worked hard and provided well
for his wife and children. Together they raised four healthy children:
Michael J. Browell, 57, of Grants Pass, Anna Patricia Gurzi, 56, of
Grants Pass, Robert J. Browell (died 2005), Cape Coral, Florida, and
Carolyn S. Rohde, 52, of Grants Pass, Oregon. He also welcomed all his
grandchildren with love, kisses and kindness over the years: Erika
Browell of Costa Mesa, California, Anthony Keil Browell of Portland,
Oregon, Adam Rohde of Sparks, Nevada, Victoria Rohde, Joseph Gurzi,
Patrick Rohde, and Juliette Rohde, all of Grants Pass, Oregon. He was
very proud of each and every one!
In 1999, Joe and Eloisa moved to Grants Pass to be closer to their
children and grandchildren, where they made great memories. He was a
very loyal, devoted, and a faithful husband of 58 years, a sweet and
gentle Dad and Grandpa. You were always there for us, you were always
there for your grandkids and were fun-loving to them!
You truly enjoyed the company that always surrounded you, and were
involved in your community and organizations, namely GP Chamber of
Commerce, Josephine County Historical Society and NW Networking, and
tried to help others.
Being a devout Catholic, who never wanted to miss attending mass
at St. Anne Catholic Church, he loved the Lord Almighty with all his
heart and prayed for those in deep suffering!
We know Joe would want to give thanks to the VA and it's many
doctors, nurses, caregivers and staff; the amazing love of Cindy
Graham; to our wonderful Brenda Paul; the great staff over the years
at Allcare Health for your attention and care you lovingly provided to
him. Your kindness and care for Joe will never be forgotten.
You were loved by many and will be sorely missed pops. We salute
you for who you were and who you always will be! Forever your memory
will be in our hearts. Until we meet again, may you rest in God's love
and peace.
