John Thomas Parish III

November 4, 1954 — September 16, 2013

John Thomas Parish III died in his home Monday September16, 2013. Born November 5, 1954 in Franklin, Indiana, John also lived in Oregon, California, Washington and Paraguay before making Grants Pass his home in 2002. John graduated from University of Washington and returned later for his MBA. His sense of adventure and curious mind took John all over the world. In addition to his years in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, he roamed Europe, Mexico, South America and the US. John spoke Spanish fluently and read his favorite novels in both English and Spanish to hone his skill. With an ever-expanding range of interests, John loved travel, books, movies, music, art, food, power tools, clothing, weightlifting, Daffy Duck and beer. John's intelligence, enthusiasm, wit, laughter and zest for life drew people to him. His generosity and sincere concern for them won their loyalty. The outpouring of love during John's illness and since his death is an astounding testament of his importance to his friends and family. It also tells us he had great taste in friends. John is survived by his adoring wife, Bo Parish, his father, John T. Parish Jr and sisters Ruthann, Marilyn and Michelle. Though he did not have children, he is loved dearly by his nieces, KT, Linda and Connie, nephews Ben and Joe and brothers-in-law Tim and Joe. Despite time and distance, he maintained loving relationships with aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by many. A Celebration of life service will be held at the Parkway Christian Center Friday 9/27 at 2:00PM.
