John Joseph Donovan Jr., known as Jack, 73, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at his home in Williams. A private service will be held on Veterans Day at Gotcher Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the Donovan residence in the afternoon. He was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Niagara, Wis., and spent his youth in Niagara Falls, N.Y. After leaving the Navy, he returned to Niagara Falls, where he met and married Mildred, "Milly." Their three children were born in Niagara Falls. They moved to California, then later settled in Williams, where they raised their children. He worked for the city of Grants Pass parks department as an entry level gardener and eventually became the department's superintendent. He is survived by his wife, Milly; three children, Diana L. Donovan of Grants Pass, John J. Donovan of Manassas, Va., and Bruce M. Donovan of Grants Pass; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
