Joan Marie Hamlin-Dishmon, 66, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at 4887 Lower River Road in Grants Pass. One of six children, she was born Nov. 15, 1942, in Carlton to Newton and Dorothy Mauldin. When she was a young child, her family moved to Hugo, and she attended Hugo School and Grants Pass High School. In 1960, she married Allen Dishmon, who died in 1982. On April 12, 1991, in Yuma, Ariz., she married John Hamlin, who survives. She enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. She also enjoyed crafts and she made hand-sewn quilts, bird houses and holiday decorations. In addition to her husband, survivors include four sons, Chris, Cooper, Clinton and Chad Dishmon; a stepson, Jake Hamlin; two brothers, Sonny and Steve; a sister, Sybil; and several grandchildren. Two sons, Slayton and Curtis Dishmon, died before her.
